As Chief Operating Officer, Johnna Sharpe provides executive leadership to ensure Wake County’s strategies, structures and systems support highly effective and efficient county operations. She’s known as a “fixer” and creative problem solver. She uses those skills to work with multiple county departments to implement plans for achieving the organization’s goals and objectives. Rogers oversees EMS, Fire & Emergency Management, Community Services, General Services, and Facilities Design and Construction.
Sharpe joined Wake County in December 2003 as Director of Budget and Management Services. In 2008, she was named a Deputy County Manager and was elevated to the role of Chief Operating Officer in May 2018.
Sharpe is a Winston-Salem native. She is a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting. Rogers began her career in public accounting at KPMG before transitioning to a career in local government in Virginia. She worked for the cities of Norfolk (Budget Director) and Portsmouth (Chief Financial Officer/Deputy City Manager), as well as Portsmouth Public Schools (Finance Director).
