Our mission includes educating the community about the services we offer and helping residents live healthier and safer lives. We also have a variety of ways to introduce youth to a career in EMS and the healthcare field.
We are always happy to visit schools for all ages, churches, civic groups and any other gatherings of people who would like to learn more about EMS or health and safety.
Programs for Youth
Structured programs held each Wednesday evening offer in-depth instruction on EMT topics, prepare participants for EMT classes and provide regular field ride-alongs. This is a competitive entry program for ages 14-19.
Youth ages 15-19 can participate in this weeklong day camp in June that provides extensive hands-on instruction on EMS equipment and procedures. Camp includes team building and field trips to related sites. Due to Covid restrictions, sessions have been reduced to one basic and one advanced camp in June 2021.
These monthly sessions of hands-on instruction on EMS equipment and procedures for high-school aged youth take place the second Monday of each month from 7-9 p.m. This program does not include field ride-alongs.

EMS Citizens Academy
This annual fall program gives residents an up-close look at the vehicles, equipment, capability and skills of their EMS system. This is a five-week program that is held one evening a week with a different topics taught each session.
Code: Celebrate! Survivor Celebration
Each May during National EMS Week we hold a public event to celebrate survivors of cardiac arrest, their families and the EMS providers who cared for them. We encourage the public to attend and learn why CPR and AEDs are so important!
More About Public Relations Visits
Public Relations and Education visits are free of charge. We often assign on-duty units to visit groups, so as you would expect, our first priority must always be 9-1-1 service.
Emergencies sometimes affect our schedule. But your event is very important to us, and we will make every effort to be punctual. If for any reason we are late or end up missing your event, we are always happy to reschedule until we meet your needs.
More formal speaking engagements are typically assigned to off-duty personnel who are not at risk for 9-1-1 interruption.
